Jean Marie D'Amato-Thomas

D'AMATO-THOMAS,Jean Marie Died March 9, 2010 in Shreveport, Louisiana, following a brief illness. She was 64. Jean was born on July 20, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Frances and the late Hector D'Amato, and wife of the late Fleming Thomas. Jean is survived by her mother; her brother, Hector "Bud" D'Amato and his wife, Susan Lubars and her children, Paul and Elissa Dunn; stepchildren Alicia and Robert Glenn, Jennifer Thomas-Kee, and Matthew Thomas; step-grandchildren Collin, Stuart and Neil Kee; cousins Madeline Brown, Alex and Jennifer Brown, Max and Holly Brown, and Colton, Sidney, William and Whitney. She is survived by many dear friends and colleagues and all of her "kids," the many students whose lives Jean touched. Jean received a BA degree in 1967 from Tufts University; an MA in 1969 from Middlebury College; and a PhD in 1978 from Johns Hopkins University. From 1988 to the time of her death, Jean was Professor of Classics at the Louisiana Scholars' College at Northwestern State University. Services were held on Friday, March 12, in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
