I was honored to be The Maid of Honor for Hugh's marriage to my dear friend June Kootz in White Bear Lake, MN. They were most generous and thoughtful in including me in many of their activities in Cambridge, Delray Beach, Fla. and White Bear Lake I got to know Hugh quite well and found him to be such an interesting and knowledgeable man. You always learned something new or more in depth. He was such a gentleman and always so thoughtful. I will never forget him and how he gave such devoted, tender loving care day and night to June when she went through her final battle with cancer. My heart will always be filled with love and gratitude for the good times with Hugh and June. May they rest together in Peace.

Mr. Stubbins surrounded himself with talented people with whom I had the pleasure of working. Thanks for the memories and high ideals!

Uncle Hugh - Over the years I had very little time spent with Hugh, but when I did he always left a lasting impression on me. He was so gracious to share his home with my husband and I several times. He was a very generous man towards his Mother and my Father. So many times my Father would talk about their Sunday calls together and would let me know how Hugh was doing. Hugh came to my wedding and saw all the gifts and silver. He said " I can not think anything you could wish for more than this gift" He then presented me with a large jar of silver polish. He will be missed by so many he helped over the years and steared in right directions. His talent, as was the talent of all his brothers, was the highest of quality and artistic design. Your neice Sue Stubbins Scharrer

With deepest sympathy and warm memories from Laurie and the crew of PRG. Russ and I met Mr. Stubbins back in '85 or '86 when Russ was moonlighting from his day job and I was his unpaid assistant. He was referred to us by a swimming pool supply distributor in Cambridge and needed some repairs to his pool. We showed up one spring evening after our day jobs, met Mr. Stubbins and his lovely wife, Colette, discussed the job to be done and the cost of the work. Hugh gave Russ the "go ahead" and asked, "When can you start?" Russ said, "Right now." Hugh asked, "Does your company have a name?" Russ answered, "No, it doesn't." Hugh said, "I think you should call it 'Sudden Pool Service!'" Russ and I laughed about that over the years. I always looked forward to hearing Hugh's slow, southern drawl when he called each year to schedule his pool opening. He was a fine man and a true gentleman. He will be missed by me and my crew, and fond memories of him will live on in our hearts.
