I will never forget. "I am you are he she or it is. We are they are" as she walked up and down the classroom.Generations of students owe her a debt of gratitude for the greatest teacher we ever had.

My favorite high school teacher, not the easiest one, but the best. It sounds as though she enjoyed her retirement, and I'm glad to hear that.

Mrs. Kelly was one of the very best teachers I had at Mars and beyond. Strict but respectful, embued with a great sense of humor and quick wit. Remember her all-over blush both when amused and when annoyed? Such the stickler for correct grammar and spelling and what a gift that was to all of us! She will be forever fondly remembered and quietly thanked each time I hear improper grammar.

What I learned from Mrs. Kelly has stayed with me all of my life. Much of her teaching was passed to my children by me. She was a wonderful teacher who was eager to help you if you truly wanted to learn something. She will be missed. My condolences to Buzz and her extended family.

Mrs. Kelly was such a great teacher and helped me through the traumatic year after I had my hand amputated. She was my homeroom teacher and she and Buzz took me to some hockey games. She was a great credit to Mars High School as a graduate and teacher in both the old and new High Schools. She will be sorely misses by the community as a whole.

Mrs. Kelly was a wonderful teacher and person. I too remember the "first day door slam" on the first day of 9th grade English...I tell that story to my daughters and others all of the time. She was truly kind and wanted the best for her students. God's blessings and peace to her husband and family. MHS '79

One of my favourite teachers in high school. She had a marvelous sense of humor & made learning some of the most boring literature enjoyable. I won't ever forget how much she enjoyed reading & explaining Shakespeare to our English Lit class. Great lady, great teacher. The younger generations truly missed out.

Have to reiterate what my classmate Bill said about the "door slam"... yes, that certainly got your attention on the first day of class. I was rather shy, and probably a little intimidated by Mrs Kelly for a few weeks, but I soon learned, that if you put in the work, she was there to support you, and help you succeed. My condolences to her husband, and her nephews and nieces, I have a feeling that Mars will not forget her for awhile.

Mrs. Kelly was the absolute best teacher at Mars. She brooked no nonsense, and made sure that you learned the material. It was a pleasure to have had her as my teacher, and to have known her outside of the school. RIP Mrs. Kelly.

Miss Kelly was one of the best teachers I had and will never forget the famous door slam, to get your attention... She will be missed, The Mars students lost a great teacher when she retired. But the ones that had her in the 60's 70's and part of the 80's do know what I am talking about.

Shirley was our neighbor on Grand Avenue in Mars. Her Father was our Doctor for years. I stopped and visited with her when I was in town a couple of years ago and talked old times. She was a dedicated teacher and loved by all. God Bless you and your family in this time of grief.

I had Mrs. Kelly for an honor's english class in my senior year. We read Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. She was a great teacher, making Chaucer interesting. She was very serious but had a terrific sense of humor. RIP Mrs. Kelly. Enjoy heaven's library.

Mrs Kelly was one of my teachers in 9th grade english, she taught me a great deal in her class, besides the spelling and vocabulary quizzes, I learned some first hand discipline from her, she never had any trouble with me, in fact, she made me feel comfortable after a while. She was such a respectful person, and I will truly miss her. I had her colleague Mr. Clingensmith , who was right across the hall from her classroom. Our class of 1984 will always remember Mrs. Kelly for the contribution she made to starting us through our high school years.
