Betty McCool Obituary

Betty W. McCool

Kosciusko

Betty Williams McCool, 79, died Wednesday, December 4 at Highland Home in Ridgeland, MS after a long illness following a stroke in the fall of 2011. Visitation is Friday, December 6, 9:30-11:00 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, MS. Funeral services will immediately follow at Jordan Funeral Home with burial in the Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko.

Mrs. McCool is the daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel Williams of Kosciusko. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She expressed her love through her passion, art. She was happiest when she was in what she called her "glorious mess", her art studio painting portraits. She was blessed by her Lord with skills of a master artist and a love for family, people, and animals. She was a housewife, mother, grandmother, and business woman selling her prints and artwork throughout the country. She was also an avid reader and loved to collect antiques for her home. She will be missed by all.

Preceding her in death are her parents and her life-long husband, Grady Gordin McCool (2007). Betty and Gordin were married for 54 years prior to his death. She is survived by her sister, Mary Williams (Philip) of Kosciusko, MS. She is also survived by her sons, Brandt of Madison, Kevin (Diane) of Madison and Craig (Leisa) and two granddaughters, Carmen McCool Dennis (Matt) and Christy McCool of Brandon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Stroke Association or a charity of your choice.

I am so sorry Ms. McCool passed. I loved her very much. I am grateful for her inspiration as a mother and an artist. She was always in my thoughts and I wish I had been able to stay closer to her.

There are certain individuals that were in the Kosciusko Class of 1952 that I will never forget. Betty was one that I remember very distinctly. She was a great "classmate" friend. We'll all miss her.

I was a classmate of Betty's and remember how beautiful and talented she was. I saw her a few months ago and she smiled at me. Katherine

I was a 1953 Kosy High classmate of Gordon. Talked to Betty a year or so ago at The Place for Fish. Happy memories of them both. God bless the McCool family.
