Brian Jellison Obituary

Jellison, Brian
September 28, 1945 - November 2, 2018
Brian Dennis Jellison, 73, of Sarasota, FL passed on November 2, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Gareth and Caroline (Madden) Jellison, and his brother-in-law Robert Ford. He is survived by his sister, Marcia Ford, brother, Barry Jellison (Rose) and brother-in-law Robert Searfoss (Gail). Brian leaves behind his wife and champion of 52 years, Sheila Jellison, his three daughters Michelle, Hilary (Adam), Christie (Jamie) and eight loving grandchildren. He loved his nieces, nephews, cousins and his entire family both living and deceased.
From working in his father's local hardware store in Portland, Indiana to his rise at Roper, Brian truly lived the American Dream. He held a bachelor's degree in business economics and public policy from Indiana University and a masters in business from Columbia University. Brian rose through the corporate world at General Electric and Ingersoll-Rand before his role as President, CEO and Executive Chairman at Roper Technologies in Sarasota, FL. His financial acuity, sharp instincts and business strategies propelled Roper to soaring heights for both its shareholders and employees. In his 17 years with Roper, Brian's corporate culture was widely respected in the financial and technology communities. He will be remembered as a natural born leader and mentor.
It cannot be overstated that Brian was deeply devoted to his family. He loved spending time with his wife, daughters and their families, often taking wonderful trips to National Parks or spending time at their family lakehouse. He never missed a chance to educate and believed in showing the world to his family, professionally and personally. The consummate provider endeavored to shower his children and grandchildren with love, unique opportunities and special places to visit.
An avid sports fan, he loved Indiana basketball and football, the Cincinnati Reds and NFL Football. He enjoyed furniture shopping, playing euchre, bargaining on any given day and was a quality 5pm Christmas Eve shopper.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm, Monday, November 5th at Toale Brothers Colonial Chapel, 40 N. Orange Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236. A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30am on Tuesday, November 6th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, FL 34231. There will be a reception in the Chelsea Center following the Mass.

I'm so sad to hear of Brian's passing. During my year as an exchange student he welcomed me as part of the family. I still remember when he came to support me with involvement during the volleyball match.
Our family is keeping Sheila, Michelle, Hilary and Christie in our thoughts, with love and prayers.
