Jesse Duane Hernandez, I played baseball with Larry at River Oaks Little League. We played on the team Mets #9. His dad was the coach and believe his brother was on the team. We played in "T" shirts and jeans till our uniforms came in. Missed the friends I made.

Thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies go out to his wife Cheryl, son Thomas, and the entire Miggins clan. Larry was a man's man. His loss will be felt by many, many folks.
Eagles fight and so did Larry. My two sons attended St Thomas HS, and I cant think of another alum that they met that had the zest for life and St Thomas athletics like Lars did.
He lived life to the fullest and he is sorely missed. Heaven has one heck of a ball player.

Just found out about this tragedy. Larry was a great man. He was at every home basketball game when I played from 04-08, always telling me to not take any crap from the other team. He was one tough man and a great example of what men of St. Thomas are.

Just learned of Larry's departure from this world and would like to extend my deepest condolences to Mrs Miggins and family. I worked with Larry at Rice and will always remember him fondly.

Thirty five years ago while playing football at St. Annes, I broke my arm in a rather grotesque manner. Larry covered my arm with a towel so that I would not have to see it, and carried me all the way home in his arms to where I needed to be. Much like you carried me in your arms to where I needed to be, God now carries you in his arms to where you needed to be. Thank you for doing tnis for me.

Dear Kathleen and Larry
I have just heard about the terrible accident that took you beloved son. May he rest in peace with the angels in heaven.
Miss you.

Thank you to the person who wrote the perfect discription of Larry. It allowed me to remember many of the outstanding qualities he exhibited and taught me a few I didn't know. Our goal in keeping in touch was to both retire in the Hill Country. I will think of him as I move towards that goal although it won't be the same without him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Cheryl, Thomas and Laura and the entire Miggins family. Larry made everyone who knew him feel special, in some personal way and I will miss my dear friend. He always made me laugh every time I saw him, usually with some stupid joke that he laughed at more than us! He was a good man who really loved his family, everything about Texas, his country and had faith in God above. He will be greatly missed by so many people. God bless.

I can still see Larry when he would tell a joke or play a prank on someone and get so tickled that he would have tears in his eyes and his voice would get high pitched as he was trying to get the funny line or story out. I can see it so vividly.
I am out of town so I am missing his services which I am very sad about...but do know that I love and honor this man who made my life so much fun at Rice and in general. Being the intramural sports director, I had lots of contact with Larry "Longball" Miggins and his family. Sometimes when Thomas and Laura were younger, Sherl would bring them to a game. Larry and I would tease Thomas and tell him he was my boyfriend. Many times Larry's team would make it to the playoff's but if they did not or were beaten, I could always expect a formal written protest that would usually have great reasons to replay the game...such as " the third baseman was picking his nose, so the ball was so slick that our batters couldn't make contact"....and he would list several of these crazy reasons. So I would be grinning or truly laughing out loud (long before that was a facebook phrase) as he made the game what is should be....fun....rather than taken so seriously as many did.
I still find it hard to believe he is gone. I know he will be yucking it up in heaven and playing all sorts of pranks on Saint Peter. I wonder if it will like David Letterman said one time when asked if he thought he would make it to heaven and he said..."Yeah but I will probably be in the nosebleed section" ha! No matter what section Larry is in he will make it the most fun and colorful place to be. Just remember in the darkest skies we see the shining stars and Larry is a super shining star. Love to you Larry and all your family members esp Sherl,Thomas and Laura.

I have very fond memories of Larry. I remember years ago my sister (who was in Larry's grade) and I ran into Larry at a St. Anne's Fiesta and spoke with Larry and I walked away thinking how nice he was. Over the last 20 years Larry would come over to fix my central a/c for next to nothing. But my most fondest memory is when Larry saw that my windows were not secure and hew said he could not leave in good conscious knowing that I was not protected and he proceeded to secure my windows. What a great guy. God rest your soul and comfort your family.

I've said this elsewhere, but the world is a little sadder, darker place without your humor to brighten it up. God be with the Miggins family during their (and our) time of grief, but also remind us that it's a joyous time, as well, for Larry is with You, and maybe, just maybe, he's making everyone in Heaven smile a little today.
