Stuart Alan Dye - 7/14/52 - 10/9/11

Stu Dye died at his home on October 9, 2011. He left this world after losing his recent battle with depression.

Stu earned a RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) credential and was a member of BICSI (Building Industry Construction Specifications Institute) and ACUTA (Association for Information Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education). Stu was blessed with many wonderful co-workers and others at Purdue who did their best to offer their support and understanding as he went through this difficult time. Stu is survived by his wife, Patricia Dye; his mother, Betty Dye (Kokomo, IN); his son, Jared Dye, and his wife Noon (North Port, FL); his daughter, Audra Dye, and her husband Erik (Broadlands, VA); his sister, Tamara Jennings, and her husband Bill (Mechanicsburg, PA); his sister, Lisa Modglin, and her husband Rob (Katy, TX); his stepdaughter, Shannon Burdick, and her husband and daughter, Trevor and Sophia (his first grandchild who brought him great joy (Columbia, MD) his stepdaughter, Blair Ilardi, and her husband Davide (Nashville, TN); his godson, Devin Yoder (Lafayette, IN); and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he was very fond.

Stu will be greatly missed by the many whose lives he touched. He was a wonderful husband, a loving father, a great friend and respected colleague. Stu's inquisitive mind, adventurous spirit and sharp wit will not be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Boulevard, Lafayette. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, at Covenant Church, 211 Knox Drive, West Lafayette. Stu was a beautiful bright spot, always, even when in a view that had some very scenic points. He'll be remembered as such for a long time. Some day they'll figure out much better how to treat the physical ailments that are not as simple as a broken arm or clogged arteries. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sadness and loss.

Pat, I regret not being able to make it done for the viewing with Kelly. But, I do want you and the rest of the family to know that I am very sorry for your lose. Stu was a great person who I am glad to have been able to call family. My only regret is that Kelly and I never made it done to go horseback riding with the two of you. He will be missed by many but, he will remain in our hearts. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.
God bless.

Pat, I don't believe we have met. I am a RHPC charter member and on The Edge. I am so very sorry. As an RN who has dealt with depression, it is no different than diabetes, stroke, or heart attack. He just couldn't beat it before they could find a cure. Much love to all of you

I have worked in Freehafer with Stu since 2008 and am so saddened by the loss of such a great man. He always had a smile on his face and I am so sorry to find that he was struggling for so long. My blessings are with all who were a part of his life.

I first met Stu when I was a student writer with Telecommunications in 2003. I spent a summer working in FREH and MATH, writing documentation and talking with many of the technical staff. Stu was always kind, friendly and warm and it was always great talking with him when our paths crossed. My husband and I send prayers and condolences to Stu's family and close friends.

Stu will be greatly missed. He was always a good friend and our thoughts and prayers go out to Pat and family. We'll never forget how he took the time to lead our young daughter (Clare) on a horse named Taco years ago. Clare was really thrilled and talked about that for years. See all on Thur. this week. Regards, John Rider (Noblesville, IN).

Your honesty in the loss of Stuart from this world is appreciated. My own father died of 'heart disease' on the autopsy but it was from losing our mother. We have shared that with many so that they might not find guilt in knowing depression can be as deadly as heart disease. I wish you all well and express my sympathy for someone I only read about this morn. Bless your journey.
