Duane Alexander Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tippecanoe Funeral & Cremation Services on Feb. 5, 2026.
Duane Alexander Sr., age 67, passed away leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. He was born on June 8, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Odie Alexander and his loving mother, Elizabeth Jenkins Alexander.

Duane was a proud graduate of Arlington High School in Indianapolis and went on to serve his country in the United States Army right out of high school. His service was a reflection of his strong spirit and dedication.

In 2002, Duane met the love of his life, Linda Alexander, and together they built a life that brought him to Lafayette, Indiana. Their love was deep and enduring. Linda's passing in 2023 left an empty space in Duane's heart, one he carried quietly but faithfully until they were reunited.

Duane was known for his funny, goofy personality and his quick wit. He was always ready with a joke and could light up a room without trying. A true sports fan, he especially loved cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. He was a jack of all trades and the ultimate handyman-always tinkering, fixing, or finding a project around the house.

He loved playing cards, especially Spades and Dominoes, and was an impressive chess player. He enjoyed western movies, lottery tickets, and trying his luck whenever he could-you could almost always find him with tickets in his pocket. He also cherished his two dogs, Yaya and Titan, who were constant companions.

Above all else, Duane loved his grandchildren more than anything in the world. They were his pride, his joy, and his greatest treasure.

Duane is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Jenkins Alexander; his children, Duane Alexander, Dathan Alexander, Brittany Alexander, and Whittney Alexander, all of Indianapolis; his stepchildren, Travis Veach, Justin Veach, and Capri Veach; his brothers, Odie "June" Alexander Jr. and Mike Alexander; 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Alexander; his son, Tyrece Alexander; his sisters, Sherri Alexander and Carolyn Alexander; and his father, Odie Alexander.

Duane will be remembered for his laughter, his love of family, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless stories, smiles, and memories he leaves behind.

You will be missed! You always accepted me even tho I was no longer with Justin. Anytime you saw me you always made sure to say hello and see how I am. I'll watch over your "duke duke" aka Nicholas. We will all be lost without your jokes and always loving heart. May you and linda be reunited again and watch over us all!

Love,
Cassie
