Carlton Plummer was my instructor at Lowell State back in the 1970s. He taught me the courses of Watercolor and Jewelry Design. Carlton was a dynamic instructor, always positive and engaging. A tough instructor with a compassionate side, willing to listen and help you out. I later, after Graduating with a fine arts degree and then teaching art in the public school, took a summer workshop in Boothbay with him. His love of the outdoors and the sea, rocks was contagious. Carlton made you love what you saw infront of you. He made you want to get outside and plein air paint! I am a watercolor artist today in part because of him. And I do paint plein air. His lessons and advice will fondly stay with me as I paint today. I was very sorry to hear of his passing. A wonderful artist, teacher and human being. My condolences to Joan and his entire family.

I only met Carlton in the last year of his life, but I got to know him as an insightful artist, a tough critic, a larger-than-life storyteller--and a good friend to my father when he needed one the most. I'll always miss sitting at the counter between Carlton and Dad. Thanks for everything, Carlton. Cheers, amigo!

A rare man and a true character. He and my Dad, Bob Berry, were great friends who would chatter and laugh for hours. I will miss him and his energy. Im so sorry for your loss.

Dear Plummer family....I am 81 now and truly
remember with much affection and respect the
enthusiastic guidance and art instruction as
a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade student at the Kendall School in Belmont. My teachers, Mrs.
Sawyer, Mrs, Rose and Mrs. Dwyer were all smiles when happily introducing your dad, the
art teacher, Mr. Carlton Plummer to the class
upon his arrival.
We all loved him, and I remember his being
taller than all my teachers. I learned a lot
from his gentle methods of teaching, and I still enjoy some artwork to this day. I am so
very happy he had such a wonderful family life with you all....GOD BLESS.
