Cary
Andrew Everett Gintis was born on February 16, 1994, in Raleigh, N.C., the son of Dr. Warren and Marsha Gintis and brother of Haley Gintis. Drew graduated from Athens Drive High School in May 2012, and had attended Wake Technical Community College.
Drew is survived by his parents Warren and Marsha Gintis of Cary, NC, his sister Haley Gintis, of Kapolei, HI, his maternal grandfather, Stanley Wittenberg, of Cary, NC, his uncle Larry Wittenberg of Cary, NC, his aunt Julie White of Atlanta, Ga, and cousins, Morgan, Erica and Seth Wittenberg and Carly and Audrey White.
Drew was residing in Fort Myers, Florida, where he was working at Petco. Drew loved his job and enjoyed working with exotic animals. Drew had plans to attend Florida Southwestern State College, where he was to study Network Security.
Drew will be deeply missed by family and friends nationwide. His illuminating smile and sense of humor were both trademarks of Drew and continually brought laughter to those around him.
A celebration of Drew's life will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 2:00p.m. at Beth Shalom, 5713 Yates Mill Pond Road, Raleigh, NC 27606. Following will be a grave side service at the Hebrew Cemetery, 450 North State Street in Raleigh. All are welcome.
Our hope in losing Drew in his battle with addiction is that it will help others fight this deadly disease. Addiction is a family disease and cannot be conquered alone. In lieu of flowers please hug your children. In Drew's memory, donations may be made to The Healing Place of Wake County, 1251 Goode Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
