BARBARA SLIFKA Obituary

SLIFKA--Barbara J. Passed quietly Sunday in her 95th year after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Sylvia and Joseph Slifka and her twin brother, Alan Slifka. Barbara graduated from the Fieldston School and went on to become the Fashion Editor of the well-known fashion magazine, Harper's Bazaar. Her career took her globe-trotting all over the world. She was a dedicated philanthropist supporting the arts and serving on many Boards. The New York City Ballet, Guggenheim Foundation, Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, SCAN, The Interfaith Center, Julliard School, Nature Conservancy and many more wonderful organizations benefitted from her largesse. Informal gathering for friends and relatives will be held at Frank E Campbell Chapel at 1076 Madison Avenue from 5-7 on Wednesday evening and Funeral Services will also be at the same location on Thursday at 11:00am. A celebration of her life will be held later in the summer. A wonderful and elegant lady who lived a long life, enjoying her daily ocean swims in Sagaponack with her King Charles spaniels and dear friends. She is already sorely missed by all of us who were lucky enough to have known her.
