Charles Franklin Waddell, age 89, of Lee Dr. passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Hospice Home. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Edmond Philmore and Mary Gibson Waddell and husband of the late Hazel Fitch Waddell. Charles was retired from Western Electric after 46 years of service, a member of St. Mark's Church, a founding member of the Alamance Wildlife Club and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Waddell of Burlington; son, Mike Waddell and wife Bett of Burlington; and sister-in-law, Edna Isley Waddell of Savannah, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Howard Waddell, George Waddell, Jack Waddell and a sister, Alice W. Tilley. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, January 2, 2015 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Disher and Rev. Ben Bishop. Interment with military honors will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Waddell will remain at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 5-7pm Thursday. At other times the family will be at the home of Mike and Bett Waddell, 2601 May Dr. Burlington, NC.
