Claude Drafts Obituary
October 20, 1947 - December 7, 2023
West Columbia, South Carolina - Claude Rowane "Wane" Drafts, Jr., 76, of West Columbia, SC died Thursday, December 7, 2023. Born October 20, 1947 in Lexington County, he was a son of Claude R. Drafts, Sr. and Croney Price Drafts. A lifelong member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, he was also a 1965 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of South Carolina.
Wane served six years in the Army National Guard Reserve during the Vietnam War. He began his career at Loxscreen Company where he rose to the level of Vice President of the Architectural Sales Division. In 1986, he took over that division and set out on his own to begin The Drafts Corporation. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and Poppi to his grandchildren and was the ultimate giver and provider for his family. You would frequently find him on Saturdays riding his tractor while listening to Gamecock sports.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Rawl Drafts; his daughter, Deanna Courtenay Drafts of Atlanta; his son, Brandon Christian Drafts, M.D. and daughter-in-law, Katherine Fey Drafts of Columbia; grandchildren, Hannah Michelle Drafts, Leah Kate Drafts, and Connor Christian Drafts; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, George Robert Drafts of West Columbia. He is predeceased by his two sisters, Peggy Drafts Sessions and Sylvia Drafts Marchant.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held the next day in the sanctuary at Mt. Hebron at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 17. Burial will follow the service in the adjoining cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Colonial Gardens Assisted Living & Memory Care in West Columbia for their loving care in his final days.

May you rest in peace sir! Mr. Draft don´t know me but because of my husband I met him. We went to his house to ask for some branches of roses across the street and he gave it us. He was outside blowing the yard that time. I never forget him because I really love plants. Mr. Wane the roses is doing really good and putting lots and lots of flowers. Thank you so much. I didn´t know you died same year I met you.
