David Elmer Pratt, 92, passed from this world into God's mighty hands on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 in the early morning while he was sleeping. David was born in Windom, MN on Jan. 19, 1920. His family moved to Texas when he was 3. He always said that he wasn't born in Texas but he got here as soon as he could. He grew up in the Heights in Houston & attended Reagan High School. He served in the Texas 36th Division of the 143rd Infantry where he served in Germany, France, Italy & Northern Africa during WW2. When he returned home from the Army, he went to work at Sinclair Refinery in Pasadena, TX. Sinclair was bought out by Atlantic Richfield Company & David retired from ARCO in 1982 after 37 years. David was one of the premier softball pitchers in the Houston area from 1945-1971. He loved to bowl, travel & spend time with his family. He loved his country & was very patriotic. He also loved to watch the Houston Astros, Houston Oilers, Houston Rockets & Houston Texans. David is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick & Florence Pratt; siblings, Donald Pratt, Richard F. Pratt, Eleanor Patterson; Eva Riffenberg & his loving & devoted wife of 57 years, Frances Clark Pratt.
David is survived by his daughter Linda Wright & husband, Herman of Houston, TX; son, David Pratt, Jr. & wife Elly of Petersborough, England; granddaughters, Tina Braswell & husband Dale of Bothell, WA & Tara Wright of Everett, WA; great-granddaughters Hannah Braswell & Kaitlyn Braswell both of Bothell, WA: sister Virginia Moore & husband Joe of Tomball, TX, & many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews. David's family would like to acknowledge Colonial Oaks Living Assisted facility & Heart to Heart hospice for the very loving & tender care they bestowed on David during his last several weeks of his life. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home. Chapel services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. with interment at Grand View Memorial Park. Online memorial tributes may be placed at www.grandviewfunerals.com

I work with Dave for many years, I was a pipe fitter, He always talk about all of his travel around the USA. I always enjoy talking with Dave. He was a wonderful person. Michael Cacciotti.
