Debbie, I miss you and think of you everyday. I remember when I introduced you to an East Texas drive-thru which was only made of red dirt, you laughed so hard you cried!! Lol l thought it was a nice and decent drive- thru! Lol...Anyway, you had to admit the food was excellent in spite of the home-made drive thru. Still can't believe you're gone. R.I.P.

I was Debbie's Administrative Assistant at both Neighbor Centers Inc. (NCI), where she was the Assistant Director of Head Start, and followed her to Gulf Coast Community Services Association (GCCSA) where she was the Head Start Director.
I have many fond memories of our time together. We both were starting new chapters in our lives. She starting a new career and me being a new mom. Together we worked to build the GCCSA Head Start program back to the gem it once was. Our phrase at that time was, "Either you are on board or you are over board. Your choice, but this ship is sailing towards success!"
One of the funniest conversations we ever had was discussing Texas enunciation. I, being Texan, was fearlessly defending our speech sure that I was correct. Debbie couldn't understand why we say something will be done "on" Monday or "on" Wednesday when those were not nouns that someone could do anything "on". Then she said, what are you fixing when you say you are" fixing to". I replied, well 1st it's fix'n and 2nd nothing.
Both of these irritated her and I promptly quit saying them. (I do have to admit she was correct on both accounts).
Then another day I asked if I may borrow a pen to which she replied she didn't have a pin. I saw a few pens on her desk and said but you have one there. She then proceeded to teach me how to hear the difference between and say pen and pin. This was no small task for a native Texan.
Debbie you were tenacious, compassionate, and driven. In life you never wanted the spotlight on you, but unbeknownst to you your light was one of the brightest of all. You will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and friends.

My condolence to the Kaiser family. My heart hurts every day, but I know that my dear friend is no longer in pain. I will miss her smile, her laughter, her advice and her passion for children and families. Debbie was such an inspiration in my life. I loved her like a sister. Her undaunting spirit will remain with me forever. I will continue to pray for Rob, Mr. and Mrs. Kaiser, family members and friends. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
