Donald Waskowicz Obituary
Born March 13, 1930, in Meriden, he was the son of the late Walter and Sophie (Sopocki) Waskowicz. Don obtained his license as a physical therapist in 1961 and worked in the profession for 55 years until his retirement July 1, 2016. He was an early pioneer in adaptive seating and served as the head of PT for several different providers throughout Greater Waterbury including the Waterbury Hospital, St. Mary's, Waterbury Easter Seals and the VNA. He most recently retired from over 30 years as a consultant for CRI. Never one to want attention for his good deeds, he devoted much of his life to helping others. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his three sons, Donald T. Waskowicz and wife, Lori, of Plainville, Alan Waskowicz and wife Carrie, of Southington, and Kevin Waskowicz, of Cheshire; three grandchildren, Caleigh, Zachary, and Rosalese Waskowicz. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Walter and Raymond; and five sisters, Evelyn, Adeline, Marion, Virginia, and Patricia.
Memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Resource Center of Connecticut, Inc. in Plantsville. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 3:30 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Calling hours will be at 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be Monday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. For online condolences and directions please visit, www.dellavecchiafh.com.
