Dorothy Mae "Dot" Trott

March 22, 1931 - August 20, 2025

Dorothy Mae "Dot" Trott, 94, of Waynesboro, Va. passed away on August 20, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born March 22, 1931, in Baltimore, Md. to the late William H. Kirby Sr. and Agnes M. Kirby.

A devoted member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Dot served as Chair of the Church Administrative Board, pianist for the Beracah Barean class, President of her United Women of Faith circle, and many other roles over the years. She was also active in the Waynesboro/Augusta Woman's Club for more than three decades, serving as president, chairing the annual fashion show, and many club activities up until the time of her death.

Dot made history as Waynesboro's first female Vice Mayor, and also served on the Planning Commission, the Augusta County Vocational Education Board, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, and as chair of the Waynesboro School Board. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and classroom volunteer for her three sons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Luther L. Trott Jr.; her brother, Dr. William Kirby Jr.; a niece, Jennifer Savin; and a nephew, William Kirby, III. She is survived by her sons, David (Karen) Trott, of Christiansburg, Doug (Nina) Trott, of Waynesboro, and Don (Carol) Trott, of Oxford, MS; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Marjorie; and two nephews, Roy and Bill.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, with Pastor Morris V. Fleischer officiating, with private burial at Augusta Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Waynesboro/Augusta Woman's Club, Main Street United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society.
