Earl McCall

Earl McCall, 85, of Varnamtown, affectionately known as "LuLu" by family and dear friends, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. McCall was born in Varnamtown on September 4, 1935 and was the youngest son of the late Charlie Hobson and Rebecca Ann McCall. He was preceded in death by a baby daughter Edna Earl, four sisters and one brother. Earl retired from MOTSU (Sunny Point) in 1993 after 35 years of faithful service. He was a lifelong member of Gospel Center Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Earl was a great man with a generous heart. He loved God, his family and friends. He made a deep and lasting impression with all he met and his impact and presence will be forever felt and remembered.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Naomi Yale McCall; two daughters, Anita Mintz and husband Jamie of Harvest, Ala. and Edwina Clewis and husband Wayne of Ash; grandsons, Adam Canady, Ethan Clewis and wife Nikki; great grandson, Masen; two great-granddaughters, Dakota and Rosalie and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 9 at Gospel Center Baptist Church with Rev. Landis Lancaster, Rev. Foyd Bennett and Rev. Jared Galloway officiating. Burial was in the Gospel Center Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Edgar Wooten, Ellis Wooten, Clarence Wooten, Jared Galloway, Logan Galloway, and Kevin McCall.
Honorary pallbearers were Billy Hewett, Danny Galloway, Ennis Swain, Billy Lancaster, Lynn McCall, and Charles Wilson.
The family received friends at the residence.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the excellent given to Earl during his time of illness.
