George Fine Obituary
Mr. Fine, age 83, of Charlotte, NC passed away on October 22, 2009. He was born in Lynn, MA on July 28, 1926, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Fine. He was a graduate of Tufts College and received a degree in chemical engineering. George served in the US Navy as an Ensign during World War II. He then entered M.I.T.to do graduate work in the area of textiles, graduating with a Master's of Textiles degree. Mr. Fine excelled in the import and export of textile chemicals. He then opened 'The House of Steaks of Sixth Street' in downtown Charlotte in 1958. Later he opened 'George Fine's Beef n Bottle' restaurant on South Boulevard in 1979 which continues to serve the Charlotte community.
Mr. Fine is survived by his loving brother, Edward A. Fine of Swampscott, MA; loving companion, Mary F. Hall of Charlotte; Ron L. Rice, devoted friend and business partner, and Rick Bouman, managing partner of George Fine's Beef n Bottle, both also of Charlotte.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, 222 South Church Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.

I'm so glad that I had the pleasure of knowing and working with George. I have many wonderful memories from dining at the Beef and Bottle and will always think fondly of him. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
