GERARD R. LAWRENCE

LAWRENCE--Gerard R., 88, died peacefully in his Greenwich, CT home on January 27, 2013. He was born on September 5, 1924 in Lausanne, Switzerland, son of Georges and Amelia Lawrence. He served in the US Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy where he was wounded in action. He then graduated from the Yale University School of Engineering with both BA and Masters degrees. His career was dedicated to the engineering and construction of petroleum, chemical and industrial process facilities worldwide. Shortly after graduation, he joined the CE Lummus Company where he spent most of his career and became a Vice President in Bloomfield, NJ. He then served as Chairman of John Brown Engineers and Constructors Inc., in Stamford, CT until his retirement in 1987, after which he consulted and worked for philanthropic organizations. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy, sister Raymonde, children Timothy, Christopher(Cathy) and Ariel (Eric, fiance), as well as grandchildren Alexander, Zoe and Charles. Services on Saturday February 2, at 11am at the Chapel at Christ Church, Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Gerard R. Lawrence to Adopt a House (adoptahouse.org).
