Glen Nelson Pope

January 6, 1937 - January 29, 2022

Glen Nelson Pope, 85, of Newton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born in Los Angeles County, Calif., Jan. 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Foy and Frieda Rader Pope.

Glen retired in 2003 after 48 years as vice president in electrical service. He had been a car enthusiast all of his life, he showed cars locally, until after his retirement, he showed at national level coast to coast. He was most proud of being an Antique Automotive Club winner. Glen truly loved showing classic original automobiles.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye Pope of the home; nieces, Linda Barrett Houck and husband, Lonnie, of Vale, Tina Barrett of New York, and Mary Lou Alimenti and husband, John, of Tennessee; nephew, James Paul Barrett and wife, Annette, of Hickory; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m., at St. Paul's Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Eddy Sapoch officiating. Masks are required please. Burial will follow.
