Howard Noonan Obituary

Noonan, Howard Howard Lyle Noonan passed away July 23, 2025 at his home In Florida he was 87 years old. He was born in Niagara Falls New York, the son of Kathleen and Carlos Noonan. Howard is pre-deceased by his brothers James and Robert and sisters Alice Atkinson and Rosemary Dawdy. He is survived by his wife Karen Krischan Noonan, son Gareth Noonan and son's wife Fiona and two grandchildren Annabel and Maxwell of London, England and by numerous nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and Bowling Green University and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University at Buffalo. He completed a dental residency at the E J Meyer Memorial Hospital in Buffalo, New York and practiced dentistry in Amherst, New York. He took an active role in his profession, serving as President of the Erie County Dental Society and as a member of the 8th District Dental Society Board of Directors and the American Dental Association Ethics Committees. While living in Amherst he was active in the Williamsville Rotary and as a Director of the Ransom Oaks Community Corporation. After his retirement in 2000 he moved to Youngstown, New York and Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, Florida.

His mother was Canadian and he loved visiting the family cottage in Bracebridge Ontario. He loved to golf, ski, bike, kayak and sail and spent many happy days on the waters of Lake Ontario, Charlotte Harbor and the Caribbean. He was a member of the Youngstown Yacht Club for more than 30 years and served as Commodore in 2000. He loved to ski with his friends and family in the US, Canada and Europe. He enjoyed travel and visited Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Among his many accomplishments Howard learned to play the flute and the piano in his retirement and enjoyed both classical music and jazz.

A Memorial Service is planned for New York in August and Florida in the fall. The family wishes to thank their friends and neighbors who provided love and support through Howard's illness.
