Resident of Los Gatos
Irene McDermott, age 91, died peacefully on May 4, 2017 in Bakersfield, California. She was born and raised in Iowa and was happily married to Francis P. McDermott. Together, they raised 6 children: Linda, Steve, Jim, Jeff, Mary and John. Irene shared fond memories of her childhood on the farm as well as the summers camping near the seashore with her family. Her love of nature will forever be reminisced by her family who hold her paintings to be dear. Irene is survived by many who feel forever grateful to have loved and been loved by such a caring, thoughtful, and gentle mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frankie and son, Steve.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 21st, 4 PM with a Rosary service at 6 PM at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow St., San Jose. Funeral mass on Monday, May 22nd, 11 AM, Queen of Apostles Church, 4911 Moorpark Ave., San Jose will burial to follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park.

Please accept our deepest sympathies as you say good-bye to your mom, grandma, great grandma. She was truly an incredible woman and leaves behind quite the legacy!

Irene was one of the sweetest, most beautiful angels that I know. She was always smiling and had such a good attitude on life. Always greeting you with such love in her heart. She will be missed by everyone that she every touched. I never heard her complain about anything. We will miss her dearly but God got a new Angel now. She will be with us forever.
