James Chickerella Obituary

CHICKERELLA James S. Chickerella, 53, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011. He was born July 28, 1957 in Columbus and was a 1975 graduate of Westerville South High School. He was a mechanical contractor formerly associated with R.H. Reeb, J.A. Guy, most recently was self-employed and a member of the Pipefitters Union 189. He was a master of many of building and carpentry trades and skills. Jim was a longtime Moose member, an officer in the Moose Lodge 1427, a committee member of Moose Heart, and was awarded Moose member of the year 2008-2009. Jim was kind, gentle, gave unselfishly of himself, and loved helping people. He liked to have fun and people gravitated towards him. He was the "favorite uncle" where he acted as grill master for many cookouts. Jim loved boating, camping, and was a Nascar enthusiast. Preceded in death by his grandparents Sam and Vincenza Chickerella and John and Sarah Weissinger, sister Karen Chickerella Haemmerle and step-brother Jeff Scott. Jim will be missed by his loving parents, Ann Chickerella and "Coach" Vincent (Beryl) Chickerella; sister, Janice (David) Ormandy; brother, Thomas (Renee) Chickerella; brother-in-law, Mark Haemmerle; step-brother, Matt; step-sisters, Lisa Ann, Susan, and Mary Lee; nieces and nephews, Gina (Craig) Van Wagner, Sarah (Mike) Lehner, Joe (Taraney) Lanning, Jackie, Molly, and Lindsey Haemmerle, and Vincent and Danielle Chickerella; and seven great-nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Friday, February 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Loyal Order of Moose Service of Tribute at 7:30 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington (Just South of I-270), where family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim's memory to Moose Charities, 155 S. International, Mooseheart, Ill 60539. Dear Chickerella Family
I dated Jim in high school and he was later engaged to my best friend Pam. I have nothing but the fondest of memories of him and our times together. His hardy laugh, squinty eyes and big dimples will always be remembered in my mind and my heart. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
