Janet Carol “Jan” Thomas, age 91 of Strasburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Thursday, March 27, 2025, following a brief illness while in the care of Hennis Care Center at Bolivar.
Born in Lorain, Ohio at St. Joseph’s Hospital on September 26, 1933, Jan was a daughter of the late Maynard and Mary Thomas Grubbs and was a 1951 graduate of Lorain High School.
Jan’s life was filled with hard work, a trait she instilled in her own family. For 30 years, she raised her family in Las Vegas, where she owned and operated her own cleaning service, Jan’s Janitorial, which focused on both residential and commercial cleaning. A big part of her life centered around music, having had a natural gift of being able to play the guitar, whistle, and sing. She not only performed locally but had the opportunity to share her talents on stage in Las Vegas. Most of all, Jan had a deep faith in the Lord. She enjoyed studying and reading the Bible.
She will be missed by her children, Donald (Lisa) Grubbs of Painesville, and Laura Cua of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Rich, Amy, Sherri, Katie, December, Sara, and Harold; 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a niece, Kathy Cooke.
In addition to her mother and father, Jan was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Thomas; a son-in-law, James Cua, and a brother, Raymond Grubbs.
In keeping with Jan’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. The Geib Funeral Center at Dover is handling cremation care.
