Jean Reynolds Obituary

Jean Whisonant Reynolds ROCK HILL - Jean Whisonant Reynolds of The Woodlands, Texas born November 24, 1936 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home at Brookdale Assisted Living Center on March 6, 2016. Jean attended Rock Hill High School, married her high school sweetheart John Douglas Reynolds, Sr., in 1954 and they were married 57 years before his death. Jean retired with Exxon after 30 years of service in both Charlotte, NC and Houston, Texas. One of Jean's greatest joys was entertaining and cooking for her family and friends. Jean welcomed all to her home and everyone coveted a seat at Jean's table. Jean was an excellent cook, she was Paula Dean before there was a Paula Dean. She loved to read, shop, spend time with her family, and kept up with friends from as far back as elementary school. She had a generous heart. She prided herself on her appearance, regardless of her health; she was a quintessential southern lady. She had an angelic voice that she shared in various church choirs throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Doug, her son Timmy Reynolds, her parents Lyle and Virginia Whisonant, her sister Cassie Vinson, and her brother David Whisonant. She is survived by her son Barry E. Reynolds (Bob Ham) of The Woodlands, Texas, daughter Terri Reynolds Looney (Don) of Baytown, Texas, son Doug Reynolds (Ann) of Rock Hill, SC, and daughter Chris Reynolds of Spring, Texas. She will be missed by her seven grandchildren, Angie Devinney, Tim Devinney, SSgt Michael Reynolds, Jennifer Carlisle, Rachael Devinney, Andrew Reynolds, Patrick Reynolds, and seven great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by brothers and sisters Darryl Whisonant, Rena Neely, Steve Whisonant, Pam Baker, and Barbara Johnson of Rock Hill, SC. If you choose to make a memorial donation, we suggest the American Diabetes Association or Semper Fi Funds. Funeral services will be conducted at The Chapel of West Conroe Baptist Church, located at 1855 Longmire Road, Conroe, TX, Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 2pm. Internment to follow at Forest Park Cemetery, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, TX. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday March 9, 2016 from 7-9pm at Forest Park. The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and compassion.

The world truly lost an angel and I lost my beautiful sister, who lived for and loved Our Lord. My heart is broken, as she has taken another piece of it to heaven, with our other family there. Jean was and always has been an inspiration to me. She ran the good race and has now won her highest place of honor in Heaven. She's singing with the angels choir. I look forward to the day I join her and all our family to never be apart again. I will always love and miss my beautiful sister so much. Another piece of our family tree is missing, but will be together always, when God is ready.

My sister was a beautiful person inside and out. I am sad she is gone, but have joy for her as she has been reunited with her son, husband, our parents, and our siblings who left us too soon. A few of my fondest memories of her are her "train case" of make-up and walking through the path to her house after her work day. We had an inside joke about that- and it is just another reason to smile when I think of her. May her beauty live on through her children and grandchildren. If you were blessed to know my sister, then you were blessed in abundance.
