Jeanette SALIBA Obituary

SALIBA Jeanette (Tanber) Surrounded by her family, Jeanette E. Saliba, 90, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at the Goerlich Center For Alzheimer's Care. Jeanette, a loving wife and mother, was a bright, shining light. A beautiful, independent woman, she always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh. She was a flashy dresser and never, ever went anywhere without sporting her high heel shoes. Jeanette was an expert, innovative chef and had a special expertise in the making of Lebanese-style meat and spinach pies. She was a gracious hostess, always welcoming family and friends into her home. Among her favorite activities were cards and bingo. She had an extraordinary recall of family genealogy and events. She was a deft knitter and people especially loved her homemade dish cloths. Jeanette was also passionate about her music, especially the big band sound. She was equally passionate about her church, where she organized luncheons, was active in the ladies society and rarely missed a Sunday service. Jeanette was born November 5, 1921 in Toledo to Edward and Edna Tanber. She grew up on Oakwood Avenue and graduated from Scott High School 1939. She was employed for many years at D&A Music, a family business. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; brothers, George and Edward Tanber; and sister, Delores Najarian. Surviving are her son, Louis (Jen); sisters, Virginia Thabit and Shirley DeVictor; and grandchildren, Lily and Anthony Saliba. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church were funeral services will be held at noon with Rev. Ignatius Warren officiating. Contributions can be made to St. Elias Church. The family would like to thank the staff at the Goerlich Center for taking care of Jeanette for the past five years and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their gracious care. Condolences may shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.

Having risen from the Tomb, and having burst the bonds of Hades, of death, O Lord, delivering all from the snares of the enemy. Manifesting Thyself to Thine Apostles, Thou didst send them forth to preach; and through them hast granted Thy Peace to the World, O thou Who alone art plenteous in mercy! Memory Eternal... Sha'allah Tislma to the Family. Your cousins in Michigan City, Indiana... Timothy and Thomas Tadros.

Louie, Mike, and all family and loved ones.
May God bless you now and always. Jeanette is in God's loving arms, and what a blessing it is to have her live in your heart and know you will be together again through the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

My sympathies to Jeanette's entire family. Jeanette was a big part of some of my earliest memories. As a little child, I remember big family meals, that were wonderfully enjoyable. Jeanette was always there, and her warm smile made everyone happy. Her dear father and mother, Ed and Edna, were like my own grandparents. We are family, and I'll miss Jeanette as I have missed her other family members that have passed on. I send internet HUGS to my cousins Virgina and Shirley. I am heartily sorry for your loss. I send my sincere love to you all.

I've been sad all day for the loss of you and yet I know you are on your way home to a much better place, full of laughter and sunshine, wearing your highest heels!

I'm so sorry I missed your birthday on November 5th and have felt bad ever since.

I'm grateful for the time spent together and the wonderful friendship that grew...I love you my very special friend!

Your friendship will live in my heart eternally; your stories not forgotten.

Rest in peace my special friend, the drums are still...the smoke has cleared...the battle is finally done....now forever yours to keep, the golden prize that you have won...

Dear blessed sleep that merely marks the ending of a holy quest, your gentle touch remains upon the hearts of those who loved you best....

What a beautiful woman inside and out. Amazed at your high heels and your talent in the kitchen; you were the spheeha queen. Have missed the old days of cooking and laughing, sharing stories. Glad I've been a part of your splendid family.
