Kara Chamberlain Obituary

Kara Lynn Chamberlain
1930 ~ 2012
Kara Lynn Chamberlain, daughter of Silas Lavell and Klara Young Cheney, was born November 2, 1930 and completed her journey in this life on January 22, 2012. She graduated from East High and earned a B.S. in Education from the University of Utah. Kara Lynn was a dedicated teacher and an articulate, beautiful woman with a bright, exceptional intellect. She spoke, dressed, and behaved with class and elegance - qualities that she exemplified. She also had a wicked sense of humor and was quick to laugh. Kara Lynn's love of books and her mastery of the English language is something that she shared throughout her life with her children, grandchildren, and her school students. She was a voracious reader of any and all kinds of books. She was also one of the few people who pronounced vegetable with four syllables and could easily use words like peripatetic and perspicacious in general conversation.
Kara Lynn was preceded in death by her former husband, Richard, and daughter, Kaye Anne, who we know were waiting to welcome her. Her love for and pride in her children and grandchildren are gifts she leaves with us. She is survived by two daughters, Diane Chamberlain (Joseph Ward) and Michelle Unice (Kyle) and one son, Bruce Chamberlain (Kathy) and the nine grandchildren she loved so much.
There are no words to express the gratitude we feel to the angels at Alta Ridge Alzheimer's facility for the loving care they took of our mother. There is no greater gift they could have given our family. We'd also like to thank Christie at Millcreek for her compassionate guidance.
Family and friends will gather at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Drive, on Friday at 1:00 pm to remember and honor her.

Hello Michelle and family,

I am so very sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was a beauiful woman with great warmth, wonderful smile and such a gentle spirit. I'm happy I got to know her and to be able to visit with you on my Thursday afternoon volunteer times at Alta Ridge. I will miss seeing you both. My best wishes and condolences to you during this very difficult time.

Peace,

Diane, so sorry to hear about your mother! Seeing her picture brought back lots of memories. There is just something about missing your mother when she's not here...I will be thinking of you and wishing you the best.
