Kathleen (Thomas) Obituary

Kathleen Fay Tucknies (Thomas)

Oct 23, 1950 - April 3, 2025

Salt Lake City, UT-Kathleen (Kathie) passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Lee Tucknies, who passed on July 6, 2020. Kathie and Roy were together for over 34 years and they enjoyed music, family get-togethers, and road trips.

She was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Thomas and Ruth Thomas, and her sisters, Carolyn (Kelly) Saldivar and Beverly Brinkerhoff. She was also preceded in death by her cherished granddaughter, Alexandrea Coutts.

Kathie is survived by her son Bryan Thomas Harrison, daughter Carrie Anne Coutts (Harrison), daughter Shannon Nelson (Tucknies), son Corey Tucknies, and their spouses Robb McCaffree, Jake Coutts, Jeff Nelson, and Rachel Brownell. She loved being a grandmother to Joleen Coutts, Austin Coutts, and Jaylen Tucknies, and a great-grandmother to Skyler.

She was the heart of our family-a source of unwavering love, boundless strength, and quiet wisdom. Kathleen was more than a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she was our greatest cheerleader, our safe place, and our most trusted friend. Her support was constant, her kindness limitless, and her presence a blessing we cherished every day.

Kathie loved holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween, and was a thoughtful gift-giver who enjoyed making her loved ones feel special. Sending holiday cards always meant a lot to her, and she has kept every single one she has ever received.

She was a dedicated worker in a corporate setting at American Savings Bank for many years until she felt a calling to change careers and started working at St. Jude Hospital for several doctors because she wanted to help others.

Our wonderful mom will be greatly missed, cherished, and looked up to as an inspiration to be thoughtful and care for others above all. "Back to the gypsy that I was" is a lyric from one of her favorite singers.

A burial and Celebration of Life will be on Sun, June 8 at 11 am at Wasach Lawn Memorial Park in Millcreek, Utah. XOXO

Deepest condolences. Kathy was a kind and humble person. She had a great smile and a gentle soul. My mother Patsy spoke fondly of her. She will be missed.
