Kenneth Hyle Obituary

Kenneth J. Hyle Jr., 78, of Riverview, Florida passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, October 14, 2023.He was born in Utica, New York on July 27, 1945, a son of the late Kenneth Sr. and Shirley Hyle. He attended VVS High School and received a nursing degree from Mohawk Valley Community College. On August 28, 1982, he married Donna E. Pender in Utica.Ken's life was a testament to selfless service. He served his country with honor for more than 20 years with the U.S. military, both active duty and reserve. He was a Hospital Corpsman and Operating Room Technician in the U.S. Navy, and later was a Registered Nurse in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel. He retired from New York State in 2000, where he was employed as a Registered Nurse for the CNY DSO for most of his 33-year career.He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna; his cherished son, Kenneth III; his daughter-in-law and football buddy, Beata; his grandson, Ryunn, who shared his love of ice cream and pizza; one brother, David Hyle (Sharon); one sister, Barbara Hyle; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Sandra DeMass and Susan Houston; and one brother, Gary Hyle.Ken had a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. The biggest joy in his life was spending time with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. He will be deeply missed.Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Ken will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with military honors. I worked with Kenny at the DDSO. He was a very committed RN to the developmentally disabled, to make sure his people were well cared for. I loved his sense of humor. Sorry for your loss. Great guy!
