Lee Blevins Obituary

Lee Winfield Blevins, Sr. of Martinsburg, West Virginia went to rest in Jesus at the age of 83, on April 14, 2023, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Lee was born on January 12, 1940, to Marvin and Gracie Blevins in Whitetop, VA. He was the third eldest of nine children. Lee was a devoted and loving husband to Shirley Blevins (nee Yates) for nearly 33 years before her death in 2007, and an equally devoted and loving father to eight children. One of Lee's greatest joys was becoming a grandparent and he loved spending time with all of them. Lee was a member of the Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge in 1966. He worked as a lead carpenter for the Arlington County Government for several decades before retiring in 1995.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers - Ted, Lyle, Leonard, Howard, and Roger - one sister - Mary Ann Jackson, and three grandchildren - Kimmy Harmantas, and Rondale and Ashley Tiller.

He spent the final year of his life with his special dog, Buddy, and his grand-dog, Chloe, and grand-cats, Stella and Angel. He enjoyed spending the summer in the backyard hand-feeding the squirrels and watching the deer. His final hours were spent listening to his favorite classic country songs, doing puzzles on his iPad, and resting with the pets.

He is survived by his eight children: Lee Blevins, Jr (Hedgesville, WV), Charlotte Harmantas (Hedgesville, WV), Dixie Blevins-Bozenko and husband Joe (Martinsburg, WV), Carol Wampler (Hedgesville, WV), Theresa Webster (Martinsburg, WV), Ronald Tiller (Hedgesville, WV), Dwayne Tiller and wife Joyce (Ft. Worth, TX), and Pamela Duncan and husband Jimmy (Bealeton, VA); Brother: Dee Blevins and his wife Lucy (Bassett, VA); Sister: Erma Thompson and her husband Jerry (Front Royal, VA); Brother-in-law: Arnold Yates and his wife Janet (Bunker Hill, WV); Sister-in-laws: Marion Pierce and her husband Raymond (Stephens City, VA) and Karen Blevins (Atkins, VA). Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all those that love him. He is forever in our hearts.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 9:30am until the time of the funeral service at 10:30am at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at 2pm at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia.
