Logan Michels, age 36, of Colfax passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Logan was born January 19, 1989 to John and Christie (Freeberg) Michels. He is survived by his parents; siblings: Chism and Samm Michels; grandmother Betty Freeberg, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Logan grew up outdoors farming and hunting. He was active in FFA, excelled in school and loved learning. After high school, he attended Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Rice Lake for carpentry. He obtained his bachelors in psychology from UW Stout and then Master’s Degree in industrial organizational psychology at Mankato State.
Logan was a humble man, an exemplary brother and loving son. He would help anyone who needed help and supported local farms and businesses. He loved spending time with his family, neighbors and friends. He enjoyed intellectual conversations about politics, religion, nature, world systems and farming. In his free time he liked using his Ham Radio System, homesteading, gardening, canning food, hunting, processing his own meat, picking blueberries, watering his flowers, taking care of his chickens and kittens.
He loved learning throughout his life and enjoyed reading about herbalism, health, wellness, psychology, spirituality, space and perhaps most often, the Bible. He was steadfast in his devotion to the church and community surrounding it.
Logan loved the little things in life; working hard, sun rises, starry nights, admiring the landscape, morning dew, birds singing, dirt on his hands, sun on his face, the sound of rain, watching the chickens in the yard, chocolate milk, bees, and fresh peaches.
