Lottie Phillips Obituary

LOTTIE LAVELLE

WALLACE CUNNINGHAM

PHILLIPS Born: May 29, 1930. Went to be with

Jesus: March 7, 2016.

Born Lottie LaVelle Wallace, Ms. Lottie (as so many affectionately called her) was the second born in her family of five children. Her oldest brother Homer Wallace, and a younger brother, Billy Wallace both preceded her in death. She is survived by a younger brother BT (Talma) Wallace and her little sister, Mary (Bass) Wallace.

Ms. Lottie accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the tender age of 12. When she was 12, her family moved to Houston. When she was 16 she got a job a Reddix Ice Cream store where she met John Cunningham. Later on August 17, 1946, they married. Together they had 3 children, Robert Allen, Herald Jay and Joy LaVelle.

As the children grew up and began their own families, the family grew as 7 grandchildren were added. They are John Cox (Cunningham), Robert, James, Krista (Davidson) and Erica (Mangum) Cunningham and Craig and Scott Rogers. Later 3 more girls were added in; Kristi, Melissa and Jennifer Powell. Ms. Lottie loved her children very much and as the grandchildren were added, her love grew to encompass them also. When the great-grandchildren began coming along, her love grew yet even more because she loved all 20 of them deeply.

Ms. Lottie was a very giving person. When she saw someone in need, if she had the means to meet that need, she would reach out, bless them and cover that need expecting nothing in return. Ms. Lottie left a trail of love for her Lord and so many people whose lives touched hers.

Although she was not perfect, she made her mistakes like all of us do, the most important thing that she left for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her friends is the love and obedience she exhibited for her Lord and Savior.

Over the past few years she began to talk more and more about Heaven, going Home and most importantly, seeing Jesus. Yes, Monday night, after seeing her struggles and how tired and weak she was increasingly getting, God took her hand from mine and took her on home to be with Him.

We knew Lottie at the First Baptist Church of Atascocita more than 20 years ago. Her sweet spirit and dedication to the Lord's work and to the children she cared for continue to be a precious memory for us.

My Momma was the best momma ever! Words fail to express the great void in my heart that was Momma.
