Mark Collins Obituary
Mark "Dave" Collins, 57, of Pasadena, TX, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 24, 2011. Dave was born September 22, 1954 in Modesto California. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, reading, and praising God. He served in the restaurant business, first with McDonalds, then a fantastic career with Chick-fil-A. He was preceded in death by his mother Joanne Collins and Grandmother Smee. He is survived by his wife, Patti, daughter Amanda Iturralde and husband Nick, stepchildren Jodi Votion and husband Jason and Jason, Butler and wife Katy, grandchildren, Blake, Brianna, Adryen, Nick, Rylen, Baylee, Destiny; brothers, Dana Collins, Brent Collins and wife Val. He spent much of his time helping people and giving to many. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 6PM-9PM at Grandview Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at Clearpoint Church 5151 East Sam Houston Pkwy South in Pasadena, Texas on Thursday October 27th at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Winshape C-3 Camp at First Baptist Church of Pasadena. www.fbp.org/winshapec3. Patti, We are so sorry for your loss. Dave was our very best friend for years in Houston. He was such a blessing to us. He hired my husband at McDonalds when no one was hiring "long hairs". After I told Rick about Dave's passing, he was in tears and said "he changed our lives". I know Dave had a close relationship with the Lord. That comforts me greatly in this so sad time. We could tell story after story of all the wonderful things Dave did for us and others....but after reading this guest book, I guess you pretty much know how he was. We knew him in the 70's and 80's. So many wonderful memories. I cannot believe he is gone. Your strong relationship with the Lord will see you through, I know. Our prayers are with you and your family always, Rick and Glenda Hile

You will never find any restaurant nor retail business with better customer service, compassion and love of people than Chick-Fil-A in Pasadena. It is because of both Dave and Patty how well this business is managed. They know their customers not only by their names but as their friends. Their ministry to others showed in every aspect of their love and their passion, not only for each other but for their "family of friends" at Chick-Fil-A. I know how much I miss Dave and Patty, both Dean and I are praying for your comfort, peace and God's loving arms around you every day. You and your family are in our prayers. Dave was a very kind, compassionate person whom we met at Chick Fil A. He was very good to my son, Robert, and knew of his disabilities so he always gave him a free soda. We will always remember him. May God comfort and strengthen you until the day that you meet him again in heaven!

Mark was such a generous person with a good heart. I remember both the kid he was back in Grand Rapids and the man he became in Houston and the friend he was to me over the years. A while back, I went to cfa to get lunch and Ms. Margie said her hellos and introduced me to Mr. Dave. She told him about my dad and all kinds of stuff. He said if I ever needed a job, I could work there. I have worked their for 3 years. Everytime I would work, Mr. Dave would smile and say, "Good job Rachael." He always encouraged us to go the extra mile. He will definitely be missed and cfa will never be the same.

This man was my boss when I worked at Chick-Fil-A. I say "boss", but really that doesn't accurately describe him. He was a friend and mentor. Even for the short while I knew him, he had an effect on my life. I send my sympathies to my fellow workers and to his family. Mr. Dave was a great man.

Dave was my Sunday school teacher and, as many will confirm, a man who exuded the joy of the Lord. He had an infectious smile and warmth about him.
