Marshall Pike Obituary

Pike, Marshall Earl

November 9, 1942 - June 21, 2023

Marshall Earl Pike, age 80, of Greensboro, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Wesley Long Hospital.

Marshall was a 1961 graduate of Liberty High School where he was active in the FFA and in his senior year he was voted Homecoming King. He played football all four years there. He was raised on his family's tobacco farm in Liberty where his love for farming began. He was co-founder of General Fertilizer Equipment, Inc. in Greensboro, N.C. where he manufactured, serviced and sold agriculture application equipment all over the southeast. Marshall's endearing personality made him irreplaceable to his customers and they became lifelong friends.

Marshall was the glue that kept his family connected throughout the years, making sure to check on them weekly. He made sure his family was taken care of, whether it was his brothers, sisters, sons, or grandsons. He sacrificed to make sure others had what they needed. He considered it a good day when he made someone laugh.

He was an avid sports fan spending most of his free time enjoying racing, specifically Dale Earnhardt and football, especially, Washington Redskins and baseball - N.Y. Yankees. He loved to watch and play golf as well. Whatever sport his grandsons were playing - those were his favorite.

He was the son of the late Kermit Taft Pike, Sr. and Elsie Smith Pike and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Pike Redding and Shirley Pike Murray and brothers, Kermit Pike, Jr. and Jerry Pike.

Marshall is survived by his significant other, Beverly DeStefano; sons, Jason Pike (Brandy) and Shane Pike (Laurie); grandsons, Logan, Isaac, Conor, Joseph and Luke Pike; sisters, Nina Stout, Barbara Kivett (Kenny), and Brenda Pike; brother, James Pike (Carolyn); brother-in-law, Leachie Murray; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to Beverly DeStefano for her care, love and support shown to Marshall over the years.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Tabernacle Methodist Church of Greensboro, 5721 Methodist Road, Greensboro, NC; burial will follow in the church cemetery.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southeast Falcons Youth Football and Cheer, Inc., PO Box 273, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313 or Tabernacle Methodist Church of Greensboro, NC Inc., 5721 Methodist Road, Greensboro, NC 27406.

Hi Shane and Jay, I knew your Dad from his General Metals and starting GFE days. He had an infectious laugh and was always fun to visit. May you find peace and comfort in these difficult days. Blessings - Craig
