Martha Weigand Obituary

WEIGAND
Martha J. Weigand,

It is with heavy heart, we announce the passing of Martha Jane Weigand (Marty), at the age of 84. Mom died peacefully at home on April 23, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born February 1, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Cecil and Helen Haddock, whom preceded her in death.

As a homemaker, she was blessed with raising her nine children. She thoroughly enjoyed getting back to work, and making many friends along the way. Working at Frost Bros. Department store, Burlington Coat Factory and her most recent, Sam's Club, doing what she loved in demoing products to customers. Throughout her life she provided a warm, entertaining environment which many friends enjoyed. Mom was always known for her cooking especially, her wonderful pies.

Mom was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Cline, Donna Burk, Mary Jo Vetter and her brother, Charles Haddock. Our father, Frederick passed in August 2003.

Mom is solely survived by her sister Eleanor Williams of Phoenix, Arizona. Her nine children and their spouses, Paul Weigand (Sioux Falls, SD); Mary (Kimbro) Ogilvie of Roanoke, VA; Kathy Weigand (Kingwood, TX); Mark (Mary) of San Antonio, TX; Ellen (Joseph) Brown of Helotes, TX; Emily (Richard) Lapierre of Cibolo, TX; Patty (Thomas) Woods of Helotes, TX; Eric (Kelley) of Cedar Park, TX; and John (Monica) of McAllen, TX. Her greatest pride and joy was being blessed with, 26 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren with a sixth, due in July.

We would like to extend a very special thanks to, the Odyssey Hospice, specifically, her nurses Heidi, Helen and Nancy. Her daughters, Ellen, Emily and Patty, as well as, her daughter-in-law, Mary, wish to thank all the numerous friends and family that supported us, giving us the much needed strength, by allowing us the opportunity to keep Mom in her home, which she so dearly loved. Although it was a difficult journey, we were blessed and strengthened through this love and support, to grant our Mom her final wish.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes, TX on Friday, May 17th. A Rosary to be recited at 9:30 A.M., followed by a Mass at 10:00 A.M., the Gospel will be read by, our lifelong friend and inspiration, Rev. James Conway, whom Mom loved so dearly. Interment will follow at Locke Hill Cemetery.

In the words of Father Solanus Casey:
".Everyone needs someone - knowing that somewhere someone is thinking of you."
