Michael McDermott Obituary
Michael Philip McDermott, born in New Fairfield, lost his battle with leukemia on Sept. 12, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family, including his partner and soul mate, Madeline Lapuyade, of California.
He was a graduate of New Fairfield High School, class of 2002, and went on to study Culinary Arts at New England Institute. He was able to share his love and passion of food with the people of, St. John, in the Virgin Islands and San Francisco.
Michael is survived by his parents, Wesley and Catherine McDermott of New Fairfield, his partner and soul mate Madeline Lapuyade of California, his sister Jessica Daigneault of St. John, USVI and brothers Christopher and Daniel of Connecticut. He is also survived by 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held this Wednesday Sept 17, 2014, at St Edwards the Confessor, in New Fairfield at 11:00am.
Arrangements are being made by, Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St. Danbury, Ct.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michaels memory can be made to, Be the Match, 3001 Broadway St. N.E., Suite 100, Minneapolis, Mn. 55413 or on line at bethematch.org.

I just found out about Michael's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Remember the good times and keep those memories with you always. To my Dear Friend Cathy,
I've just learned of Michael's passing and I wish with all my heart that I could say or do something to make your pain go away and bring Michael back to you once again. I remember when Mike and Jessie used to come by the office and with one remark about his big beautiful eyes, he would turn beet red and turn the other way. Each time I saw him at Chris' restaurant those big eyes and beautiful smile made anyone he came into contact with just a little bit happier. He had a goal and was determined not to let anything or anyone stop him along the way. He had a generous heart and free spirit so it only makes sense that God chose him to be one of his special angels and to call him home far too soon. Although we're never ready to say goodbye to our loved ones, we can find solace in knowing we'll see them once again. We can all learn from Michael's courage by helping not only with our money but also our time and by becoming donors whenever possible. I'm sending much love to the entire family. God Bless.

Michael was a wonderful man who just happened to bring my daughter, Madeline, such great joy. I think he knew how happy that made me. I am glad I got to know him and now I will never forget him.

Mike, I haven't seen u much over the years but in thinking about my childhood from time to time and reminiscing with my brothers your name is often brought up and we will always remember you and the happiness you brought everywhere you went.
