Mike and I were good friends when we knew each other through our employer, Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon. Mike and his wife Cindy were simply the best you could hope for as great Americans and friends. Mike and I enjoyed adventures and outside business opportunities together. We once sailed on another friend´s new sail boat from Seattle to Portland including an unscheduled stop at Grey´s Harbor, Washington after our small 36´ sailboat experienced several issues and a pacific storm large enough that we had to ask for Coast Guard assistance in making it over the bar at Grey´s Harbor, which was breaking at the time! On that occasion, Mike never lost his grit or Navy style while some of us were just hanging on for dear life.
I lost contact with Mike years ago when we both moved out of the Portland area. I only just found where he and his family had landed today in North Carolina. I was deeply saddened by news of both his and Cindy´s passing. I had hoped to reconnect sooner and had tried to find him through the various retired Navy resources. To all of the Copper family and friends, I wish your loss and broken hearts will heal knowing that you will perhaps see Mike and Cindy again when we each take that trip to be with our loving God.
