Montgomery Telfair Cribbs Jr.

CRIBBS Montgomery Telfair (M.T.) Cribbs, Jr., age 93, died peacefully on June 23, 2015. The youngest of ten children of Montgomery Telfair Cribbs and Pauline Cason Cribbs, M.T. was dedicated to his family, including that of his wife of almost 69 years, Frances Jane. She and their daughter, Jan survive him, along with two cousins and many nieces and nephews. M.T. began his long banking career as Office Boy at the Atlantic National Bank (ANB) in Jacksonville. He retired as ANB's Executive Vice President in 1973. Described as always ahead of the curve, one highlight of his career was using his considerable banking knowledge to develop the ANB Computer Department in the early 1960's. But he may be best remembered for his friendly and equal interactions with all bank employees; many new staff were surprised and pleased when he greeted them by name soon after they were hired, and they quickly learned his door was always open to them and any banking questions they had. Both detail-oriented and creative, M.T. enjoyed working with architects and interior designers on the new ANB building before he retired; after retiring he taught himself to tailor beautiful suits and dresses for his wife and daughter! M.T. was a long-time and active member of First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, 225 E. Duval St., Jacksonville, FL 32202. His memorial service will be held there on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at eleven o'clock in the morning.
