Neal Marco Obituary

Neal Duane Marco

January 29, 1932 - June 13, 2025

Neal Duane Marco, 93, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2025.

Born on January 29, 1932, in Wolbach, Nebraska, Neal lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, service to country, and a deep connection to community. On December 31, 1954, Neal married Luella Beyersdorf. Their union spanned an extraordinary 72 years until Luella's recent passing. Neal's death brings them together once more.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Neal served honorably during the Korean War and carried great pride in his military service throughout his life. He was also a dedicated member of First Lutheran Church in Papillion, Nebraska.

Neal was a lifelong fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and enjoyed cheering on the football, volleyball, and basketball teams. Together with Luella, they spent many years bowling in leagues and he found joy in coaching his children's sports teams. Fishing trips with family and cross-country vacations created cherished memories over the years. Neal also treasured quiet mornings spent with coffee and the newspaper, simple pleasures that brought lasting contentment.

Known for his patience and skill repairs whether fixing plumbing or untangling a granddaughter's necklace, Neal approached every task with care and thoughtfulness. He also shared many light-hearted hours at the casino with Luella, enjoying each other's company in friendly competition.

Neal is survived by his children, Steve (Barb) Marco of Dixon, IL, and Chris Marco of La Vista; granddaughters Rachel (Jason) Kobus of Bloomington, IL, and Lauren (Jessie) Weaver of Oregon, IL; great-grandchildren Griffin Marco Kobus and Della Lou Weaver; sister Carole Johnson; sister-in-law Marilyn Beyersdorf; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Luella Marco; parents Lake and Vedia Marco; brothers Jack and Don Marco; brother-in-law Oscar Johnson; and sisters-in-law Hertha and Norma Marco.

A family memorial will be held at a later date to honor both Neal and Luella.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
