Richard BECKMAN Obituary

Richard Hunt Beckman, age 64, of Spokane, Washington, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024. He was born on February 1, 1960, in Dearborn, Michigan. Rich loved all things Nascar racing, Eastern Washington football games with friends, hiking with his dog Pima at Lincoln Park, scuba diving on vacations, listening to jazz music outside on his deck in the summer, visiting his daughters in Chicago and Seattle, and enjoying his newest title as 'gramps' to his first grandchild, Henry Bannick (age 2). Rich had a passion for winter sports as well. Avid skier and two time sledding champion at Indian Canyons Giant Hill. He had recently started attending the Spokane Symphony in the evenings and loved live music.

He owned his own business of Beckman Accounting and was always ready and eager to help those who needed support. Rich was the kind of guy who would step out of a nice dinner and pass a $20 to a person in need or hand out food when he had extra. He was a charitable man who often donated to various local organizations supporting children in need, military families, homeless, etc. He will be extremely missed.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Beckman, daughters, Tara Bannick and Marissa Beckman, son-in-law, Nate Bannick, grandson, Henry Bannick, father, Ned Beckman, brothers, Tom and Steve Beckman, and dog Pima.

Richard was my accountant for nearly 20 years. He was such a nice guy! I would recommend him to other people and they would like him so much that he would become their accountant. While we had a business relationship, I still enjoyed him greatly as a person, and I am happy that I was able to know him. I can hear his voice in my head as I'm typing this and that makes me smile.

My condolences to his family!

My interactions with Richard were limited to his role as the accountant who did the taxes for a friend whose finances I oversaw. He certainly exhibited the kindness and generosity that his obituary indicated. Many in the community will miss his services. My sympathy to the many family members who deeply loved him and will always miss him.
