Terrence Magee Obituary
AGE: 70 • Toms River
Terrence David Magee, 70, of Toms River, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised in Matawan, Terry spent most of his life in Toms River. A 1962 graduate of Matawan High School, Terry left his mark on the basketball record books, leading the Huskies to a Shore Conference Championship. Terry served as a land surveyor for Fellows, Reed and Associates and Schoor DePalma Incorporated before founding Hewitt and Magee Associates Land Surveyors in 1993. Terry always put his family first. When he discussed his wife, daughters and grandchildren, he did so with love and pride.
Terry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen (nee Chapman); his daughters, Megan and Kimberly and her husband Shawn Ryan, and his three grandchildren, Patrick, Finn and Margaret. Also surviving are his three brothers, Thomas of Brenham, Texas, Timothy of Manasquan and Theodore of Matawan. Terry was predeceased by his parents, Celia and Gordon Magee. Known for his broad handlebar mustache and warm personality, Terry touched the lives of many. Terry was a lifetime fan of the Indianapolis (nee Baltimore) Colts, an avid viewer of the History Channel, and a serious threat on the golf course. He shared his love of golf with his grandchildren, who he loved to take to the driving range. He was a loyal and trusted friend, quick to offer help and support. Terry will be remembered for the gleam in his eye, his warm spirit, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday , July 3, 2014 at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences may be made by visiting www.andersonandcampbell.com. I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Terry this morning and it brought to recall many wonderful and treasured memories my youth growing up on the corner of Church Street and Wyckoff Street in Matawan. The Herbert family lived next door to the Magee family.The Herbert girls Dottie,Diane, Donna and Debbie and the Magee boys Tom, Tim, Terry and Teddy. Living on the lake provided us with many hours of lake activities during the winter and summer. Mrs. Magee loved the lake as much as we did and was almost always there when we were, to not only to enjoy the "fun in the sun", but to keep a watchful eye on us. In the summer after a day at the lake,dinner and a time waiting for the ice cream man we would often have an evening swim and then we would roller skate up and down the street between Jackson Street and Wyckoff Street. In the background we could hear the clang of the horseshoes hitting up against the pole while the men in the neighborhood would participate in that sport for their evening activity.
I will be forever blessed by the memories of our childhood and my sister, Diane, and I often talk about those wonderful days of our youth. We lost track of the physical Magee family when we moved to Florida in 1956 but the memories made with them will forever be in our hearts.
After reading the remembrance of Terry I concluded he must have been a wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you all as you travel this journey without him by your side.

I was saddened to hear about the passing of Terry. Although it has been many years since I had spoken to him I will never forget his quick wit, his competitiveness or the time I was fortunate enough to spend with him. He made an impression on everyone he met and will never be forgotten. My sincerest condolences to Kathy, Megan, Kim and your entire family.

My Uncle Terry, How I Loved him, how I idolized him, how I will miss Him.. You were so good to my Family, all the holidays we all spent together are some of the greatest memories I have. I spent almost every Easter vacation with Aunt Kathy and Uncle Terry, and he was just so much fun to be around, making laugh so hard all the time.
I will Truly miss You, I know The first thing you did when you arrived in Heaven was find my Bailey, and now I know she has someone looking out for her up there..

I remember the Magee family well. "Terry" was a good friend and a classmate of my sister, Maria Morizio Taylor. I was in Teddy's class, a few years behind...but all the "kids" in Matawan were friends with each other, and I remember Terry attending many parties at the Morizio home. Mrs. Magee, Megan, Kimberly, and Shawn....My family and I are so sorry for your loss. I have so many childhood memories of Mr. Magee....and will never forget talking basketball and strategy as I grew up. He loved his family, and he was always the best example of what a dad should be. TERRY WAS AN EXTREMELY KIND AND GIVING MAN AND WOULD DO ANYTHING TO HELP OTHERS. HE WOULD ALWAYS TALK OF HIS FAMILY. WHENEVER HE SPOKE OF HIS GRANDCHILDREN, HIS FACE WOULD GLOW AND HIS EYES WOULD WARM SHOWING HOW MUCH HE LOVED THEM AND HOW PROUD HE WAS OF THEM. THERE ARE JUST A FEW IN THIS WORLD LIKE TERRY.
