Thomas Walker Obituary
February 3, 1941 - January 30, 2026
Tom Walker has peacefully passed on. Born in San Antonio to Mary and Reese Walker, he was a graduate of Central Catholic and UT Austin.
As editor for numerous magazines, he contributed hundreds of features, profiles, and reviews. A gifted writer, Tom authored the Frost family history book, Banking on Tradition, as well as three novels. For the past several decades, he has served as documentarian for two dynastic families, the Montagues and the Westons.
Tom is survived by wife/soul mate, Nancy Lila, beloved step-children, Alex (Emily) and Maggie, and grandchildren Liam, Beau, & West and Georgia & Henry.
Tom Walker was a truly remarkable man. A big burly guy, he was endearingly nicknamed The Bear by his step-children and all of their friends. His whip-smart, acerbic humor masked a gentle soul, who dearly loved family, friends, baseball, literature, classical music, and single malt scotch.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SA Philharmonic.

Dear Lila,
We heard about Tom's passing through Kelly Hollis. I am saddened by the news. Funny, but I was visiting with Andrew Michael Hollis, and we called the number we had for Tom and I left him a message. Tom was a unique man. He was fun, intelligent and someone I looked up to and admired. We shared music, sports, and adventures in New York together. I remember him fondly.

I KNEW TOM FROM THE LATE 60'S & 70'S. HE WAS SMART, FUNNY & SOMEWHAT A NEERD...REST IN PEACE...

I was in basic training with Tom, and we met on the bus to Ft. Polk, Louisiana and later was his parents' neighbor when we re-united but unfortunately lost contact later. I knew him as a fun and nice guy and always wondered why he didn't take the officer's route in the military but that wasn't his thing and preferred to be just another dog face G.I. grunt like the rest of us. May you rest in peace my old Army buddy.
