VICTOR M.G. CHALTIEL

CHALTIEL--Victor M.G. Victor M.G. Chaltiel was born in Tunis, Tunisia on September 8, 1941 and passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2014, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He is survived by his wife Toni and their three children, Oscar, Maxime and Sarah. He is also survived by his children Jean-Jacques (Sarah), Lionel (Serena), Edouard (Julia) daughter-in-law, May, his grandchildren Zachary, Ezra and Niko, and his sister Jacqueline along with his many nieces and nephews. Victor tragically was predeceased by his son Eric. As an active participant in the Las Vegas business and social communities, Victor had a love for national and local politics, and his love for Las Vegas led him to run for Mayor of Las Vegas in 2011. Despite his distinctive heavy French accent, which he never lost after living in the US for over 40 years, Victor was proud to say he was American by choice. Victor was an active philanthropist, donating to many charitable causes worldwide. He served as a Board member of The Las Vegas Sands Corporation and was appointed to the Board of the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development. Victor was a member of the Board of Directors of The American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Adelson Educational Campus as well as numerous other charitable organizations, and he was a proud member of the Board of the Republican Jewish Coalition. Victor had over forty years of experience in the healthcare industry and until his passing served as Founder and Chairman of Redhills Ventures where he led and created HealthDataInsights, Inc., the industry leader in healthcare claims integrity which was formed and headquartered in Las Vegas. HealthDataInsights was sold in 2011 to HMS Holdings Corporation. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, Victor served as Chairman and CEO of Total Renal Care Holdings now Davita, the nation's second largest provider of renal dialysis services. He also served as Chairman, President and CEO of Total Pharmaceutical Care, now Apria, and as President, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Salick Health Care, a pioneering cancer treatment care company. Victor Chaltiel is a graduate of the Ecole Superieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales in Paris and holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. After graduating from Harvard Business School, Victor began his career with Baxter International, where he quickly climbed through the ranks to lead their artificial organs division. He was instrumental in the successful development and worldwide commercialization of Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), currently the leading home dialysis treatment. Victor was honored by the National Kidney Foundations of Northern and Southern California as well as those in New York and the Capital Area. The National Kidney Foundation annually awards the "Victor Chaltiel Young Investigator Grant of The National Kidney Foundation." Victor's love for life, gregarious sunny personality, and his boundless energy and generosity is known by all those who were fortunate to know him.
