Willard W. Dorman, 89, of Ft. Myers, Florida, and La Porte, Indiana, passed away April 20, 2021, after a short illness.
He was born May 12, 1931, in Gary, Indiana, to Willard G. and Marjorie (Wilson) Dorman, and raised in Ogden Dunes, Indiana.
On Sept. 4, 1954, he married the love of his life, June Bode, and shared 60 years of marriage until her passing in 2014.
Willard was a graduate of Purdue University and a member and president of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He was a supporter of La Lumiere School in La Porte, where he served on the Board of Trustees, and also supported the La Porte County Public Library.
He owned a construction company, a custom millwork shop and a property management/development business for years in Indiana; and a boat business in Florida.
Willard is survived by his four children, Willard "Randy"(Jane) Dorman of La Porte, Indiana, Thomas (Debrah) Dorman of Cape Coral, Florida, Sally (Edward) Craig of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Robert (Karen) Dorman of La Porte Indiana; grandsons, Carl (Malerie) Dorman and David Dorman; and great-granddaughters, River and Willow Dorman, all of Florida; and sisters–in-law, Norma Bode and Sylvia Bode of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marjorie Ann.
Willard always had a great attitude, loved animals, people, wood, old buildings, old cars, telling stories, fishing and boating. He was truly a kind person that touched the lives of many, and was often referred to as a "gentle" man and one of the "good" guys.
