WILLIAM FIORAVANTI Obituary

FIORAVANTI--William Paul,

passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 91 on October 11, 2017. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to a Neapolitan family, William was the brightest star in any room, the life of every party. He is acknowledged as one of a few of the finest bespoke tailors in the world. Mr. Fioravanti had repeatedly been recognized by the industry as the "Master," and received many awards including the "Golden Scissors" award from the Academy of Master Tailors. "Bill" as he is known to his many friends, has a long history with CTDA. He joined the Association in 1947 at the age of 27, when he was the co-chairman of the young mens program for the National Convention which was held at the Waldorf Astoria. He was selected for the CTDA's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998 honoring his stellar achievements in the tailoring profession and his long-standing contributions to the CTDA, including serving as President and for many years as Assistant Treasurer. He was also installed in the CTDA Tailors Hall of Fame that year. He served in the navy during World War II. He married his wife, Olga, in 1949. A dynamic and talented man, William ran William Fioravanti, Inc. with his wife, brother, and daughter for over 60 years. He loved people, and will be missed by all who knew him. William is survived by his wife, Olga, his daughter, Raquel, his son-in-law, John, his two grandchildren, Alessandra and Christopher, and his two sisters, Anna and Millie. Memorial Services Monday, November 6th, 9:30am at Frank E. Campbell, 1076 Madison Ave (81st). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
