Robert Dealaman Obituary

Robert G. Dealaman

Endwell - Our dear friend Robert G. Dealaman passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2018 at his home at Good Shepherd Village on the land where he was born and where he hoped to die.

His life was one of great accomplishments. Bob was born on May 9, 1943 to Harry E. and Olive J. Dealaman who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his brother Harry. Bob graduated from Wyoming Seminary and Broome Technical Community College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1966 he joined LINK Aviation, in Binghamton, NY now L-3 LINK Simulation and Training. He retired from LINK in 2001 as Manager of Facilities after a long and distinguished career.

Bob's greatest passion in life was his commitment to the Boy Scouts of America, especially the Baden Powell Council. Having been a Boy Scout as a youth, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and continued his life- long service to the Scouting organization on local, regional and national levels until his last days. He was proud to have attained many recognitions including the highest National Scouting honor of the Silver Buffalo in 2017. Bob continued to work at the Baden Powell Council office twice a week until just last week.

Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Endicott, NY where he served as deacon, elder and sang in the choir. His service to his church was an important part of his faith.

Bob was instrumental in the creation of Good Shepherd Village at Endwell through his generous donation of the land that had been in his family for generations and where he attained the title of "Unofficial Mayor".

Bob is survived by many dear friends throughout the Scouting organization, at his church and at Good Shepherd Village at Endwell, especially his dearest friends, Beverly Scudder and Marilyn Myers, who were his family. He will also be missed by his dining table mates.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, the Corner of Grant and Monroe Street, Endicott, NY. Calling hours will be from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, with funeral services to follow. Reverend Janice Devine and Monsignor James Lang of the Syracuse Diocese will officiate. Per Bob's wishes, in lieu of flowers kindly consider donations to either the Baden Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2150 NYS Route 12, Binghamton, NY 13901 or Good Shepherd Communities Foundation, 32 Village Drive, Endwell, NY 13760.

So very sad to have discovered this news Bob and so long after the event. None of us over in Scotland realised that you had passed on and cherish the memories that we have of you across at Blair Atholl and from our contact maintained across the years. You are still fondly remembered from your attendances at Blair Atholl International Scout Jamborette (along with your trusty sidekick "Little Bear") from 82-92 and the memories live on. I was in the process of sending some images from the camp this year when I discovered you had passed. I have included some of the camp that you enjoyed attending so much and the lasting friendships you made there that endured across the years. Rest in peace Bob, from the Gillies's, part of your extended Scottish family and your friends in Scottish Scouting.

RIP Uncle Bob. You may not have related by blood but you were our family. You will be missed by many. I will personally miss your sarcastic sense of humor. I am sure Dad and other past scouters that have passed are happy to have you with them once again in heaven.

I remember Bob, Harry and the farm very well. We all went to Endwell Jr. High and were members of Troop 211 in Endwell. I also remember planting 100s of pine trees on the farm hillside and of course the combination milk house and art gallery. Great times in a great time to grow up. RIP good friend.

I had the pleasure of knowing both Harry and Bob for many years. My father was the first ranger at Camp Tuscarora and each time Bob came to camp was good seeing him. Every summer camp and sometimes in the winter Bob would come and help others in scouting as well as being with my family. Now Bob, you can go be at Heaven's camp, be with my dad and be with Harry again as well as family and friends. You will be missed. I am proud that you were a friend to me. May the great scoutmaster of all scouts be with us until we meet again. Rest on that mountain Bob, you can look down on us and keep that smile that you always have. THANK YOU for the time and service you have given from the start in the Susquenango Council where it all started.

I am sorry for the family's loss. Bob was a really nice young man whom I knew growing up in Endwell and via mutual friends and, for a while (for me) the BSA.

Bob was a real friend for a lifetime, starting in grade school and beyond. We both were very involved with the Boy Scouts, had the privilege of having Jim Barton as Troop 211 Scoutmaster, worked together at Tuscarora, as adults served on the Baden Powell Council. I remember well the camp outs we would have on the land that Bob later donated to what would become his own and final home. That helped us both get our Year Round Camper award. The Scouts and many other organizations will miss Bob's support and I will miss a very good friend.

I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing. His help and commitment to keep L-3 in the community was invaluable. His knowledge and experience of the facility was a great asset. May God Bless him.

RIP Bob, I met you in Scouting, long before I went to work at LINK, you will be missed, fellow Eagle Scout & fellow Vigil Honor member of the OA. May the great Scoutmaster of all scouts be with us until we meet again.

Bob was a great guy, I had the privilege working with him during the construction of GSVE. Bob had a wealth of knowledge and was always there for advice. Bob loved his land and was generous in sharing this land to a cause he felt strong about. We touched base almost everyday and if Bob thought there was an injustice he stood by his principles to enhance the life of others. Bob was also so proud of the boy scouts, it was his life's mission to help develop the young minds of tomorrow. It was an honor to have been a part of bobs life and he will be missed
