I met Ron when I gave the Officer Friendly classes at Newberry Elementary in the 70's and 80's. He always had a smile and knew every child by name, even my three. He will be missed by many.

My family and I had known Ron for many years. My mother's principal; she shared stories of his kind and funny manner. When I started teaching, he made the connection and was very supportive. We often laughed at how tall the trees my dad gave him had grown (during those years when we had both grown older.) Then when he and Louise connected, it seemed so right that two kind and funny people be together. But the thing I will always remember is how whenever Ron came upon me or anyone he knew and liked, it was an immediate smile that he shared that was quite contagious. I guess the word that comes to mind is: warm. Yes, I agree with others who have shared that he was a good man, kind, caring, and I'll add the descriptor "warm." I know that he will be missed. My sincere sympathy to Louise and family. Know that you are loved and that many will be wanting to help you through this difficult time. Liz Moore Reilly

Louise and family - We were deeply saddened when Allan came by to tell us of Ron's passing. We were blessed to have been neighbors for over 20 years.
I could always count on Ron stopping over as we were working in the yard to give us a break and tell us a story. The neighborhood just isn't the same. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you all. We are available to help with anything that needs done. Take care -

Four words sum up Mr. Shuey. WHAT A WONDERFUL MAN!
I had Mr. Shuey as a principal over twenty some years ago.
Then three years ago, I got a job at the credit union, where I reconnected with him on a daily basis. We became so close that I was lucky to receive one of his amazing paintings.
I will treasure it forever!
To his wife, children, grandchildren; your husband, your father, and your grandfather was an amazing man. God bless you all.

Ron Shuey was one of the kindest and most loving of principals. He knew each child by name, and they thought of him as their friend. He will be missed.

Five amazing childhood memories made possible because of this great educator....1) parachute fun 2) balloon launches 3) field day 4) cheese boxes and 5) a safe and supportive group of teachers who provided a wonderful base for our education. I know I can speak for my classmates when I say Mr. Shuey was Highland Elementary.

Mr. Shuey was a remarkable man. He was my principal in the early 80's. I still have HappyGrams from him. Mr. Shuey made me want to become a teacher. He was a gentle giant and will be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers to all of you. Respectfully, Sarah (Gross) Butler

Mr Shuey was the principal for both of my daughters and was always there for all his students. I just saw him a few weeks ago at a yard sale and when I said "Hi Mr Shuey" he asked who I was and then asked how Dawn and Heather were. They have been out of school for 16 and 10 yrs and he still remembered them. I will surely miss seeing him around the area as I have for years. RIP in peace "Mr Shuey".
