He became brewmaster for Lucky Lager from 1947 to 1951, and later was Vice President of Plant Operations in San Francisco. He served as MBAA President from 1963-65. In 1965, he moved to Atherton, where he lived for 47 years. Ruben was very athletic, and worked out at a gym into 2012. One of his life-long passions was photography, both 16mm film and stills. He loved to travel, and took many photos of his trips all over the world. Ruben was a member of the Shriners in San Francisco.
