Robert Opa BROMMER

BROMMER, Robert (Opa) Born December 24th, 1916 in Gnadenfeld, Russia passed away peacefully October 13th, 2011 in Vancouver at the age of 94. Predeceased by daughter Lily and wife Lydia, Robert is survived by his loving family son Ronald (Diane), grandsons Brian and Robert, daughter Laura (Erick) and his very best friend Maria Kottke. After the war Robert met Lydia in Stuttgart, Germany and in 1950 immigrated to Canada and spent their first year farming in Saskatchewan. They then moved to Vancouver soon after and were happily married for 42 years. Robert was employed at Canada Packers for 24 years. After retirement in 1976 he spent his time looking after their investments, traveling, gardening and when the grandsons came along they were his pride and joy. Robert was also a member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church. Opa's kind and loving nature was known to many and will always be remembered. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28th, 2011 at 1:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street in Burnaby. Interment will take place at the Abbey Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, 3 East Acute Care Unit would be appreciated.
